Liquid Desire was fortunate to have three fantastic young men onboard from Texas for an unbelievable fly fishing adventure earlier this year. These young gentlemen came with wonderful attitudes and amazing skills — catching and releasing all day on the shallow, sandy reef flats.

They all landed the prized permit, along with plenty of other hard-fighting species like GTs and trevally.

Trips are run by Tropical Sport Fisher, catering for 1 to 3 anglers. Expert guides and a 19-foot sports fisher boat give access to the flats on the correct tides — a whole new experience built on minimal impact, high skill, and pure nature.

Some days on the Reef feel almost too beautiful to be real.

We spent the day sailing crystal-clear waters, snorkeling vibrant coral reefs, and enjoying everything the Great Barrier Reef has to offer. As the sun began to set, we dropped anchor close to shore, lit a beach fire, and watched nature put on one final show.

Storm clouds rolled across one half of the sky while the other glowed with a fiery red sunset—a reminder that the best moments are often the ones you never expect.

Wonderful day out on the water at Low Island. We were lucky to share the day with a fantastic group who were up for the Ironman in Cairns. Everyone swam with the resident black tip reef sharks and green turtles. Plus some paddle boarding in the shallows spotting rays and turtles. Rewarding after a difficult and challenging day for the triathlon.
